What to Keep on Hand:

Some of the essentials you will need for holistic baking.

Having the following items on hand at all times will allow you to make many healthy baked goodies.

Apple Sauce (unsweetened) - freeze it if you can’t use it all up!

Almond Flour

Arrowroot or Tapioca

Baking Powder

Baking Soda

Coconut Flour

Cacao Powder (buy raw cacao rather than Dutch-processed!)

Coconut Sugar

Coconut Oil

Dark Chocolate, or Dark Chocolate Chips

Dates (Medjool are our favourite) - keep in the fridge

Flax Seed

Unpasteurized Honey and/or Maple Syrup

Pure Vanilla Extract, or Vanilla Powder, or Paste**

Variety of Mixed Nuts/Seeds - Pumpkin Seeds, Sesame, Sunflower, Almonds, Pecans are our Faves!


A note on vanilla:

  • Vanilla powder and paste are a bit on the pricey side, but a little goes a long way!

  • If you are buying vanilla extract, look for pure - it should be syrupy rather than watery.

  • If a recipe calls for 1 tsp. vanilla extract, use 1/4 tsp vanilla powder instead!
